Check Out Spring 2017’s Share Your Shutters Winner05/08/2017George Christ Spring is blowing by here in Minneapolis, but don’t think we forgot about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Spring’s contest winner is Tonya S., who shared some photos of her new shutters that feature a lot of great design choices. Tonya’s space features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since those shutters are closed, you can really get a glimpse of how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Envision that dining room with some softer lighting; it’s almost the perfect setting for an intimate candlelit dinner, right? With plantation shutters in your home like Tonya has, you can express the mood you want no matter the time of day. Also of note is how the white shutters complement the white trim near the floors as well as the white ceiling. Those neutral tones make the black wood furniture and the wood floor’s natural color shine even more. That wasn’t Tonya’s only photo submission, however. Below is another photo she submitted of her brand-new sliding barn door shutter! We love this barn door shutter for a number of reasons. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homespun aesthetic of the wood with that modern black frame up top give a timeless yet cozy look. What we love even more than the looks is the practicality of the shutter. The barn door shutter sits on top of the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still letting the window easily open and shut.Because the shutter sits outside the frame, Tonya can still use her window sill. As an example, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter so it can catch some rays while still blocking sun glare from outside.According to Tonya this is the third time they’ve had Sunburst install window treatments for her home, and we want to thank her for repeatedly choosing us for all her window design needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya will get a $100 gift card to a local restaurant. If you want to show off your shutters and possibly be featured on our next Share Your Shutters contest, we want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or submit a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a Minnesotan in our next update!Or if Tonya’s photos make you feel like your home is missing a little something, we’d love to help.
